Doctors deny getting a 68% wage hike offer from the govt.

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Medical Association (CMD) on Mondaydenied that the government proposed a 68% wage increase as the press reportedtoday.

In a statement union president Dr. Waldo Ariel Suero said theinformation isn’t true, noting that the Government violated a confidentialityagreed by the parties in the talks, not to release information until finaldecision was made.

"The medical profession hasn’t received any proposalfrom the government, much less have spoken nor received absolutely nothingrelated to 68 percent as the publications say. We deny the information servedto the press by the Government today, as it lacks veracity," Suero said.

He reiterated that the union proposes a 60% wage hike overthe base salary of all doctors, nurses, bio-analysts, psychologists, dentists,among other health sector workers.
