Fast Pass system boosts efficiency on Northeast highway

Santo Domingo.- The RD Vial Trust has reported a significant surge in the usage of the Fast Pass system, less than a month after its introduction across 16 lanes at four toll stations along the Northeast highway. This advancement has notably eased traffic flow along these routes.

The operations management of the institution revealed that, as of Friday, March 15, the first month since the completion of the necessary modernization and digital transformation process to successfully implement the service has been achieved. The demand for its inclusion in these tolls has been evident for years from the population.

They also presented data illustrating the successful evolution of the modern system. Within three weeks, Fast Pass traffic through the Marbella station reached 46%, while Naranjal reached 46.22%, Guaraguao 18%, and Catey 20%.

Jean Luis Rodríguez, the director of RD Vial, assured that the entity has been progressing in line with users’ expectations, highlighting, “In months, we have transformed a service Dominicans have awaited for years, reaching the point where we are today.”

Rodríguez emphasized the importance of citizens’ participation, urging them to continue acquiring the device to enjoy the efficiency it offers when traveling through tolls.

Where to Purchase the Fast Pass Device?

The device, equipped with versatile technology for use in all stations nationwide, can be recharged through WhatsApp, internet banking of Banco de Reservas, Popular, and other financial entities, as well as other designated channels mentioned on the entity’s website and social media platforms.

Fast Pass devices are available for purchase at toll booths in Las Américas, Duarte, 6 de Noviembre, Sánchez, and Santiago, as well as other points such as Sigma fuel stations and those indicated by Uepa Tickets, BM Cargo, CardNET, among others. The price remains at RD$250.00, which includes a recharge of RD$200.00.

The highway is used sparingly by the public and commercial interests because of its higher tolls. It could be argued the highway itself is and was efficient because of moderate traffic it handles. The new efficiency claimed can only be at the toll stations. It could be said the efficiency at the toll stations prior to Paso Rapido was questionable. Producing proper change create demands on the money handling process, especially for the tolls not rounded off to numbers that would actually speed up the money handling, thinking of the bins of loose metal change needed to be kept in reserve.

It could be said this article is advance marketing for the traveling public to acquire Paso Rapido prior to the traffic chaos of Holy Week.
