Expo Mango 2024: celebrating Dominican Republic’s mango capital

Baní, DR.- Minister of Agriculture Limber Cruz led the inauguration of Expo Mango 2024 on Wednesday, held in Baní, renowned as the mango capital of the Dominican Republic. The event aims to promote the ecotourism attractions of Baní and showcase the economic significance of mango production.

According to the minister, mango exports are projected to generate approximately $50 million for the country this year. Cruz and elected senator for Peravia province, Julito Fulcar, highlighted the economic growth potential associated with mango production.

Expo Mango 2024 features various activities including tastings, talks, and training sessions to provide attendees with insights into the latest advancements in mango production. Minister Cruz emphasized the country’s commitment to enhancing food production, security, and exports, while also prioritizing domestic consumption.

Technical sessions will take place at the Manuel de Jesús Perelló Auditorium of the Perelló Cultural Center on Friday, May 30, and Saturday, June 1, starting at 9:00 AM. Special participation from representatives of the National Mango Board (NMB) from the United States is expected.

During the press conference, Engineer Rafael Leger, Gisela Taveras, President and Executive Director of the Mango Cluster, as well as other key figures such as José Luis Arias, President of the Organizing Committee, and Roselin Díaz, Mango Queen 2024, were present to discuss the event’s agenda and objectives.
