New Minister of Defense and military corps commanders

Santo DomingoPresident Luis Abinader made changes in the Ministry of Defense and in the commands of the military corps through decree 445-24 during the swearing-in of his second presidential term. Major General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, ERD, was promoted to lieutenant general and sworn in as Minister of Defense.

He replaced Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, ERD, who was placed in retirement with the right to a pension for seniority in the service.

Fernández Onofre was commander general of the Army, since August 2022, he received the promotion in recognition of his career and experience.

In addition to the new Minister of Defense, the decree establishes other appointments, including that of Major General Miguel Ángel Rubio Báez, who will assume the Deputy Minister for Military Affairs position.

Meanwhile, Carlos Ramón Febrillet Rodríguez, former commander of the Air Force, was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense for Air and Space Affairs. Delio Buenaventura Colón Rosario, brigadier general, was promoted to major general and appointed Armed Forces inspector general.

Jorge Iván Camino Pérez, Major General, was appointed commander of the Army.

Floreal Tarcicio Suárez Martínez, Brigadier General, was promoted to Major General and assumed the position of General Commander of the Air Force.

Fernando Arturo Pérez Jiménez, Brigadier General, was appointed Deputy Army Commander General.
Juan Bienvenido Crisóstomo Martínez, rear admiral, was appointed deputy commander general of the Navy.

Manuel Abad García Lithgow, Brigadier General, was appointed Deputy Commander General of the Air Force.

Pedro José Lalane Peguero, rear admiral, assumed the position of inspector general of the Navy.

Euler Euménides Sierra Pérez, Brigadier General, was appointed Air Force Inspector General.

Rafael Antonio Núñez Veloz, Brigadier General, was appointed Army Inspector General.

Rafael Antonio Carrasco Paulino, Major General, assumed the role of land, naval, and air military advisor to the Executive Branch.

In addition, other officers, including Brigadier General Marisol Burgos Burgos and Brigadier General Yonis Rodríguez Luciano, were placed in honorable retirement with the right to a pension.
