Venezuela temporarily suspends flights to Dominican Republic

Venezuela.- The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has announced a temporary suspension of commercial flights to and from Panama and the Dominican Republic. This suspension will take effect on July 31 at 8:00 pm (HLV). The government stated that the decision is a response to the “interventionist actions of right-wing governments, which are openly aligned with the ideological postulates of international fascism.”

The statement emphasized that the decision is rooted in principles of full sovereignty and concerns over the potential misuse of civil aviation, which may not align with the principles of security and the commercial air rights established in the Chicago Convention. The Ministry of Popular Power for Transport, responsible for national and international mobility, affirmed its support for the political decisions of the Venezuelan State. The ministry also mentioned its right to take legal actions to defend the Venezuelan people’s inalienable right to self-determination.

This flight suspension has raised concerns among economic sectors and travelers who rely on these routes for business and personal purposes. The duration of the suspension has not been specified, leaving many stakeholders in a state of uncertainty.
