Most voters agree on reform that allows Medina another run
Santo Domingo.- A clear majority of Dominican voters, 70% of those surveyed by Penn, Shoen & Berland, agree with a Constitutional reform to allow president Danilo Medina to seek re-election in 2016.
In the poll conducted for the news group SIN, 45% "highly agree," with such an amendment, compared with only 16% who highly disagree.
On party affiliation, 77% of those who favor the ruling PLD prefer Medina as the candidate and not former president Leonel Fernández, against 61% who sympathize with the opposition PRD agree with an amendment so Medina can run again. 70% of those who don’t belong to any party also approve such change.
When all voters were asked who they believe will be the PLD’s presidential candidate, 65% said Medina and only 19% Fernandez.
