Dominican Republic may penalize airlines for E-Ticket oversight

Santo Domingo.- Immigration authorities at Las Américas International Airport (AILA) have warned airlines operating in the Dominican Republic that they may face sanctions for failing to ensure passengers complete the mandatory digital immigration form, known as the “E-ticket,” required for entering or leaving the country.
The General Directorate of Immigration (DGM) expressed concern over the rising number of travelers reaching immigration control without having filled out the form. Officials attribute the issue to insufficient guidance from airline staff, which has led to operational delays and congestion at the airport, particularly during busy periods.
An inspector explained that passengers without the completed form must leave the line to process it on the spot, disrupting the flow and contributing to overcrowding. The e-ticket, a free digital form replacing traditional paper cards, is essential for both Dominican and foreign travelers.
The most frequent violations reportedly occur among outbound passengers. Authorities are considering financial penalties for noncompliant airlines and are urging carriers to improve check-in procedures to ensure all passengers have completed the form before proceeding.
This should not be the burden of an airline a person whom bought an airline ticket paid for way in advance has basically a contract with the airline to be safely and timely transported to its destination. In the days prior this was the tourist ticket one purchased for 10 US dollars at the time of entry, I would call this an interest of conflict. Safe and enjoyfulll travels now all your paying customer.
