Pennsylvania house honors Dominican Consul General for community service

Santo Domingo.- The House of Representatives of Pennsylvania has honored Dr. Alexis Antonio Henríquez, the Dominican Consul General in Philadelphia, for his dedicated support of the Dominican community. The recognition was spearheaded by Dominican representative Danilo Burgos, who praised Consul Henríquez as a distinguished official of the Dominican Republic.

“In less than two years, Consul Henríquez has achieved outstanding efficiency, responsiveness, and community engagement in providing services, notably reaching large Dominican populations across Pennsylvania,” stated Burgos.

Key cities highlighted for their Dominican populations include Philadelphia, Allentown, Hazleton, Reading, Wilkes-Barre, Lancaster, York, and Scranton, each with communities exceeding 20,000 Dominicans.

The ceremony underscored the consulate’s significant achievements since its establishment on November 22, 2022. Consul Henríquez, supported by a dedicated team, has fostered close community ties, marking a notable shift in service delivery for Philadelphia residents.

This recognition marks the first time in Pennsylvania’s history that the House of Representatives has acknowledged a Dominican consul within the state. Speaker Joanna McClinton also attended the ceremony, emphasizing the consulate’s vital role in community service and outreach.
