Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic is expected to begin experiencing rainfall from potential cyclone #5, which is currently intensifying in the Atlantic and may develop into Tropical Storm Ernesto.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center has already issued warnings for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
Although the system remains far from the Lesser Antilles, civil protection agencies in the Dominican Republic are closely monitoring its trajectory.
Over a four-day period, accumulated rainfall is expected to range between 100 and 150 millimeters, particularly from Greater Santo Domingo to the eastern part of the country, including La Altagracia, La Romana, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, and surrounding areas.
