Every day can be a golf day in the Dominican Republic

“Retirement goals: Wake up, play golf, repeat.”

That’s what one of our past conference attendees said about his plan for his impending retirement.

If golf is your passion, then you should know that the Dominican Republic is one of the world’s best places to play golf.

The International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) has recently named the country this year’s “Golf Destination of The Year” for the Caribbean.

If golf is a big part of your retirement plan, consider the DR. On this specialized website you can find a large selection of Dominican Golf Properties: www.drgolfproperties.com

And here are some of the best golf courses in the DR to add to your bucket list.

Teeth of the Dog – Casa de Campo

Teeth of the Dog, in the resort community of Casa de Campo, is one of the most famous golf courses in the Caribbean. The course, designed by Pete Dye, showcases seven holes right on the water, and several others are at sea level. With so many holes that skirt the shoreline, hug the sea, and tower through bluffs, golfers will surely be amazed by the surrounding beauty.

Dye created the Teeth of the Dog course with five tees between 4,906 and 4,741 yards for the ultimate challenge. According to Golf Magazine, the course is currently number one in the Caribbean, ranked 43rd out of the top 100 golf courses in the world.

Punta Espada – Cap Cana

Located among a mix of wild vegetation, bluffs, and the beach, Punta Espada is a signature-designed golf course by one of the greatest golfers of all time: Jack Nicklaus. Because an 18-time champion designed the course, Punta Espada is sure to challenge virtually any golfer.

From 2008 to 2010, Punta Espada the golf course hosted The Cap Cana Championship, an official PGA Tour Champions event.

Golf Digest ranked Punta Espada among the World’s Top 100 non-US golf courses. Golf Week magazine ranked the course the best in the Caribbean and Mexico.

Corales Golf Club – Punta Cana Resort & Club

Corales, designed by Tom Fazio, is in the Punta Cana Resort & Club. The 18-hole golf course is set on rocky cliff tops near the Caribbean Sea, featuring six lovely seaside holes. While the quarries and inland lakes contribute to the course’s charm, golfers are there to experience the last three holes of the course. The final and most challenging hole of the course is Devil’s Elbow.

Corales Golf Club is home to the annual PGA tour event, Corales Punta Cana Resort & Club Championship–the last one this April.

The Top 100 Golf Courses website ranked Corales Golf Club as the 3rd best course in the Dominican Republic.

Hard Rock Golf Club at Cana Bay

Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the Hard Rock Golf Club is a newer golf course that features 18 holes among some of the country’s most breathtaking landscapes, full of native flora and fauna. The par 72, 7,253-yard course offers challenges for players of all skill levels and experience.

The course has hosted the PGA Latin American Tour for the past few years and is ranked the 11th best course in the DR by the Top 100 Golf Courses.

The DR checks all the boxes as a retiree (or expat) and golf enthusiast. With world-class, PGA-level courses at your fingertips, a day full of sun, sea, and great golf is a reality.
