Santo Domingo.- Igor Rodríguez Durán, Director General of the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC), has hailed the inauguration of Arajet’s new hub at Punta Cana International Airport as a significant step forward in strengthening the Dominican Republic’s air connectivity with Latin America and the rest of the world.

Rodríguez stated that the airline’s operational base will open up new opportunities for international travelers and contribute to the economic development of the region.

In his inaugural speech, the official highlighted the efforts of Arajet’s executives to make the opening of this hub possible, an endeavor that involved the other institutions involved in the Dominican aeronautical system as a way of supporting the growth of our companies.

“I wish Arajet all the best with this new destination and assure you that they have the support of the Dominican government and the IDAC to guarantee operational safety,” he said.

He also thanked the PuntaCana Group, in the person of Frank Rainieri, for their willingness to continue developing civil aviation in the country and especially in the eastern tourist area, with the aim of taking Dominican aeronautics to the next level together.

The airline’s CEO, Víctor Pacheco, revealed that they are currently operating with 10 aircraft and that the airline has reached a significant milestone by surpassing one million passengers so far this year.

“Our goal is to continue growing, with a projection of operating between 13 and 15 aircraft by 2025, with which we expect to move around 1.5 million passengers annually,” Pacheco assured.

The founder of Arajet also highlighted the importance of working together with international airlines and the PuntaCana Group to create interline agreements and consolidate that airport as a “multi-destination”.
