Five new companies approved for Dominican Border zone development
Dajabón.- The Coordinating Council of the Special Border Development Zone (CCDF) approved five new projects in its final session of 2024, bringing the total to 18 companies set to operate in the Dominican border region this year. These initiatives represent a combined investment of RD$902.8 million and are projected to create 501 direct jobs.
Key projects include Grupo Verrod, SRL, investing RD$149.2 million in Montecristi for hotels and restaurants, generating 76 jobs, and Global American Commercial Corp., with RD$283 million allocated for similar ventures in Dajabón, employing 253 people. Other investments include the Rice Factory Sánchez Espinal, SA, and Inversiones Polanco Portes y Estévez, SRL, focusing on rice production in Montecristi, and Verpack Industria, SRL, marketing consumer goods with a RD$321.7 million investment.
The session was led by CCDF Executive Director Erodis Díaz, alongside representatives from government ministries and regional authorities. Díaz credited the success to Law 12-21 on Border Development, emphasizing its role in fostering investment and job creation in border provinces such as Dajabón, Santiago Rodríguez, and Montecristi.
