Dominican Republic exports in agriculture: US$84.3B

Agricultural exports in January reached US$84.3 million, an increase of 65% compared to the previous year. This was mainly due to increased volume and value of cocoa beans exported to Belgium, eggs exported to Cuba, and tobacco exported to the United States.

This data is contained in the January 2025 “Sectoral Overview” report, prepared by the Directorate of Sectoral Economic Analysis of the Vice Ministry of Economic and Social Analysis (VAES). The report explains that that month, the price index of agricultural products stood at 127.8 points for a monthly variation of 1.1%. In comparison, the price index of livestock products stood at 128.9 points for a monthly variation of 0.6%.

It adds that the real value of the demand for manufactured products, an indicator that integrates local manufacturing exports, internal manufacturing operations, and manufacturing exports from free zones, reached RD$97,217.6 million in January, equivalent to a 0.4% year-on-year reduction.

In January, total real trade operations totaled RD$148,779.9 million, which is a 12.3% decrease from the previous year.

In January, the real value of imports of construction materials reached US$98.8 million, a decrease of 2.0% year over year.

Regarding wages, the publication points out that the global index of personnel and remuneration showed a year-on-year increase of 2.8 points, going from 102.5 to 105.3. As for tourism, the publication indicates that the arrival of non-resident foreigners stood at 650,875 tourists.
