Don’t be fooled! See the little tricks to know if you have a real 100 or 200 pesos note

The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) informs that RD$100.00 bills for the year 2024 will be in circulation as of Monday, April 7, 2025.

These banknotes, whose manufacture was ordered through international public bidding in April 2024, contain the same security features of the RD$100.00 banknotes currently in circulation, which will maintain their liberatory force for paying all public and private obligations.

1 Year: Located at the bottom of the obverse side of the banknote, this allows us to identify the year it was ordered to be manufactured.

2 Watermark: The image of the patrician Juan Pablo Duarte, visible when the banknote is held up to the light, is accompanied horizontally to the right by the value of the denomination “100”.

3 Mark for the Blind: A geometric figure in high relief is located on the upper left edge.

4 Latent image: Small inverted lines forming an engraving with the initials “BCRD”. It can be observed at a certain angle with the help of light.

5 Security thread: Thin strip containing the denomination of the banknote and a design with a color change from green to blue that can be combined with the isotype. On the obverse side, it is fenestrated on the paper’s surface, and on the reverse side, it is inserted into the mass of the paper.

8 Microprints: Inscriptions in very small letters that, at first glance, look like a full line can be appreciated with a magnifying glass or lens.

9 Isotype with the visual identity of the BCRD: Accompanied by the value of the denomination, numerical characters, which together change color from green to blue, printed with optically variable ink.

This banknote is issued pursuant to the provisions of Articles 228, 229, and 230 of the Constitution of the Dominican Republic and Article 25, paragraphs a) and c) of the Monetary and Financial Law No. 183-02.

The Central Bank urges citizens to consult the information on its website if they have any doubts about this or any other banknote or currency.
