Dominican Republic to host Central American Port Meeting in 2026
Panamá City.- The Dominican Republic has been chosen to host the next edition of the Central American Port Meeting (REPICA), the leading forum for regional dialogue and cooperation in the maritime and port sector. The announcement was made at the conclusion of the 47th regional port meeting in Panama, organized alongside the Central American Maritime Transport Commission (COCATRAM).
The event, scheduled for September 7–11, 2026, will be organized by the Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM) under the leadership of its executive director, Jean Luis Rodríguez. He highlighted the country’s commitment to making REPICA 2026 a landmark event that reflects the Dominican Republic’s advances in port modernization and its dedication to regional integration. The nation hosts this forum every eight years, bringing together authorities, experts, and international organizations from across Central America and beyond.
During the five-day gathering, delegations from Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, the Dominican Republic, and other nations will discuss sustainable public policies, technological innovation, and logistics security. For the Dominican Republic, the event represents an opportunity to showcase its port infrastructure, attract investment in maritime transport, and reinforce its role as a key hub for logistics and trade in Central America and the Caribbean.
