Dominican Republic joins International Solar Alliance, fueling green ambitions

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic has officially plugged into the International Solar Alliance (ISA), formally cementing its place within one of the world’s most powerful coalitions dedicated to solar power and sustainable development. The move, celebrated as a major step toward energy security and emissions reduction, was completed when Dominican Ambassador to India, Francisco Manuel Comprés Hernández, delivered the ratified Instrument of Agreement in New Delhi.

This official act, signed by President Luis Abinader and approved by the National Congress via Resolution No. 40-25, immediately integrates the nation into a network of over 120 countries committed to advancing clean energy.

Billion-dollar investment target

The ISA, an intergovernmental organization launched during the 2015 COP21 Paris conference and spearheaded by India and France, has a monumental goal: mobilizing over one trillion dollars in solar investments globally by 2030. For the Dominican Republic, this membership is a key to unlocking that green financing and accessing cutting-edge clean technologies. It firmly establishes the Caribbean nation as a serious player in the global energy transition.

The alliance works to accelerate solar adoption in developing nations through concessional financing and extensive technical cooperation.
