Corruption déjà vu: 90% of Dominican officials don’t come clean on assets

Santo Domingo.- The governmentoverseer agency on Thursday repeated a now normal report: that just 10 percentof the officials who’re required to submit their financial statement compliedwith the law, within the established period.

The Accounts Chamber revealed that "90% of officialscalled to declare at this stage did not submit a sworn statement of assets."It tweeted that 1,390 officials are obliged to submit the information. "Atthe end of the period, July 8 at 4pm yesterday, only 144 submitted their swornstatement."

The Accounts Chamber had issued a 30 day deadline on June 8for the new officials to submit their sworn declaration and warned that afterThursday the statements from those who failed to do so on time will bereceived "observed."
