Antinarcotics agents seize stash of drugs, arrest five

Santo Domingo.– National Drug Control Department (DNCD) agents and Public Ministry officrs arrested five people they accused of participating in an international drug trafficking organization composed of Dominicans and Puerto Ricans who sent drugs to Puerto Rico hidden in luxurious furnishings.

DNCD spokesman Dario Medrano said the agents found 30 packages of cocaine. He said all detainees are Dominican and are under investigation. They were arrested after several weeks of investigations.

Medrano said their modus operandi was to produce wooden furniture with hidden compartments they filled with drugs and shipped to Puerto Rico, where other members of the alleged ring were in charge of removing the drug.

Four of them were arrested in the act during an operation at the intersection of Sabana Perdida with La Victoria.
