Samaná.- The two-time President of the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina, stated that the ruling party has always had a ceiling on electoral support.

“In 2012, the government party competed with me and received 2,134,000 votes; in 2016, I won’t mention it because they suffered a defeat; in 2020, they participated again and got 2,154,000 votes. That is, eight years later, when the voter registry had grown by more than 1,000,000 new voters, they only gained 20,000 votes,” expressed Danilo Medina during a meeting of PLD leaders in the municipality of Samaná.

The PLD leader added: “In the last elections, which everyone says they swept in the municipal elections, that party received 1,730,000 votes, and if we add their allies, they reached 2,100,000 votes again. To win in the first round, you need at least 2,800,000 votes; so, they are missing 700,000 votes, and I don’t know where they will get them from.”

The president of the PLD urged the party’s members to unleash a process of passion among the people and convince them, speaking from the heart.

He indicated that the party has sufficient machinery and structure nationwide to win the presidential elections in the first or second round.
