Detained for deceased ID: two women face identity theft charges

Santo Domingo.- Police officers assigned to the Central Investigation Directorate (DICRIM) arrested 10 individuals in their ongoing operations during the last 24 hours for various offenses, including scams, illegal possession of firearms, drug trafficking, domestic violence, and other crimes.

The preliminary report indicates that Jhoanny Medina Feliz and Elisa Feliz Batista, both of legal age, were also apprehended while attempting to commit identity theft using a birth certificate of a deceased person.

Among the detainees are Luis Manuel Montero and Wilfrido De la Rosa Encarnación, both of legal age. During an operation, they were found in possession of a stolen Browning pistol, 9mm caliber, serial number 245MY007537. A check revealed it was reported stolen by a citizen.

In their ongoing operations, police also arrested Yoel Alcántara de León on arrest order No. 01541-2024-AJOR-00543 for stealing two batteries and a water pump from a business, and Gilmer Batista on arrest order No. 01541-2924-AJOR-00806 for shooting and wounding Police Sergeant Luis Bocio Cueva and disarming him.

All the arrested individuals are under the control of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the corresponding legal proceedings.
