National Meteorological Office issues rainfall alert for multiple provinces

Santo Domingo.- This Tuesday afternoon and evening, the National Meteorological Office (Onamet) forecasts moderate to heavy downpours, thunderstorms, and gusts of wind across several provinces in the country.

Areas particularly affected by this weather system include La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Samaná, and María Trinidad Sánchez, due to the presence of a trough.

According to the latest weather bulletin, from noon today, significant cloud cover is expected to develop, accompanied by moderate to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in northeastern, eastern, southeastern, Central Mountain Range, and border areas.

Additional provinces likely to experience rainfall include Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, Duarte, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, Santiago, Elías Piña, San Juan, San Cristóbal, and Greater Santo Domingo.

Onamet maintains meteorological alert and warning levels due to the ongoing and anticipated rainfall over the next 24 to 72 hours, which could lead to possible flooding of rivers, streams, ravines, and urban areas.

By Thursday, the trough is expected to shift eastward, exiting the country, resulting in reduced rainfall intensity and frequency.

Temperature ranges remain relatively stable, with minimums between 20°C and 23°C and maximums between 30°C and 33°C.
