Dominican Navy rescues adrift catamaran “Obsession” with American crew

Santo Domingo.- The Maritime Operations Center (COM) of the Dominican Republic Navy successfully established contact with a catamaran-type vessel named “Obsession.” The vessel’s crew reported mechanical issues, leaving them adrift during their journey from Errol Flyin Marina, Jamaica, with a planned destination towards Casa de Campo, La Romana, Dominican Republic.

The rescued boat, measuring 22.5 meters (74 feet) in length and 10.36 meters (34 feet) in width, displayed blue and white colors. It was carrying three individuals of American nationality who, at the time of contact, were found to be in good mental and physical health.

The search and rescue operation was conducted by the Coast Guard “Proción” GC-103 of the Dominican Republic Navy. This action highlights the institution’s commitment to maritime assistance, in line with the General Command’s directives, ensuring effective communication and operational readiness in day-to-day activities.
