National Police assures homicide rate in Dominican Republic dropped to 10 per 100,000 inhabitants

Santo Domingo – The homicide rate in the Dominican Republic so far this year stands at 10 per 100,000 inhabitants, down from 11.5 last year, according to data released Saturday by the National Police.

The information shows that in May, the rate fell to 9.04 per 100,000, a reduction of 4.75 points compared to the same month last year.

Likewise, it indicates that 16 of the 32 provinces of the national territory show rates below 10.

OPERATIVES
Regarding interventions against crime and criminality, agents have seized a total of 417 firearms and 2,469 sharp weapons in the first 24 days of May of this year, according to a police statement.

In addition, with the support of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, they stated that they have executed 2,159 arrest warrants and 886 search warrants.
