Mayor’s Office builds scuppers and filters for National District

Santo Domingo.- The Mayor’s Office of the National District has announced the completion of 540 filters and scuppers in 23 points across the three districts of the capital, as part of its efforts to improve the drainage system and prevent flooding.

The construction work, led by mayoral brigades under the direction of Mayor Carolina Mejía, aims to enhance the drainage system and mitigate the effects of flooding during rainy periods. To date, 165 filters and 128 scuppers have been completed, with progress being made on the remaining planned projects.

In addition to the filters and scuppers, the Mayor’s Office has also completed 350 sewers and 32 manholes. The distribution of buildings by constituency includes 15 in constituency one, five in constituency two, and three in constituency three.

Specifically, construction is taking place at the following points in district one: Los Restauradores, Ensanche Naco, Kennedy Avenue, Tiradentes, Ortega y Gasset Avenue, Ciudad Moderna, La Castellana, Los Prados, Piantini, El Rosmil, Manganagua, Renacimiento, Cacicazgo, 27 de Febrero Avenue with Kennedy, Winston Churchill Avenue, and 27 de Febrero from Luperón to Abreu street.

In district two, construction is underway in Arroyo Hondo, La Aldaba, Cuesta Hermosa I, Ensanche Kennedy, and Ensanche La Fe. In district three, several points have been intervened in Villa Consuelo, V Centenario, and Villas Agrícolas.

During her swearing-in for her second term, Mayor Mejía pledged to work to improve the capital’s drainage system, following years of bad experiences with flooding.

They can build as many filters and scuppers as they want. However, if they do not maintain all of them on a regular scheduled basis, they will not last, and will fall into the black hole of uselessness.

PM… periodic maintenance, is a cuss word in Dominican culture.
