ISFODOSU Publications team participates in workshop for scientific journal editors

Santo Domingo.- Representatives from the Publications Department of the Instituto Superior de Formación Docente (ISFODOSU) recently participated in the “Practical Workshop for Editors: Indexing Dominican Scientific Journals in DOAJ,” aimed at journal managers and members of the Research Network of the Dominican Association of University Rectors (ADRU).

The workshop, led by Dr. Vladimir Figueroa, Director of Research at ISFODOSU, focused on providing editors with tools to meet the indexing requirements of their journals in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

According to Adrian Rafael Morales González, one of the proofreaders of the Revista Caribeña de Investigación Educativa (RECIE), published by ISFODOSU, staying up-to-date on the latest in this area is essential for the production process of scientific journals to be optimal and successful. Julissa Ivor Medina Morillo, layout artist and designer of the Institute’s Publications Department, shares a similar view.

The workshop also addressed bibliographic databases, data structure, globally indexed journals, from Latin America and the Caribbean, in their 2021-2024 editions, the functionality of DOAJ, among other topics.

In addition, he emphasized the most important criteria of the high-quality academic journal index to advance the editorial development of the journals, financed by ISFODOSU and supported by the Dominican Association of University Rectors (ADRU).

Representatives from various public and private entities attended the event, held in the Auditorium of the Los Fundadores Building of the Universidad Nacional Evangélica (UNEV).

SciELO is a program that supports the communication infrastructure of open access research. Created in 1997 and launched in March 1998, the program is implemented in a decentralized manner as a public policy to support open access scientific communication through the SciELO Publishing Model.

The objective of the site is to implement an electronic library that provides full access to a collection of journals, a collection of individual journal issues, as well as the full text of the articles.

The program is adopted in 16 countries that make up the SciELO Network of national collections of quality journals: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Spain, West Indies, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, South Africa and Uruguay.
