Repatriations of foreigners will continue, says Migration director at the border

Dajabón –  The General Director of Migration Venancio Alcántara Valdez, during a tour of the border province of Dajabón said that the repatriation of foreigners will continue as established by the migration law.

“Our migration law says that any citizen who pernote irregularly in the country must be deported to his country immediately, that establishes the law and we are complying with the law !the repartitions are going to be done whenever there are illegals¡” said Venancio.

The director of migration spoke about the subject after supervising the reconstruction works of a center for the retention of foreigners in migratory conditions that seeks to enable an adequate structure of provisional lodging, while the repatriation process is being complied with, respecting human rights.

Venancio Valdez emphasized that no foreigner who is irregularly in the country and has been detained by the authorities remains for more than a day and a half in the processing centers, where after the legal processes the undocumented are returned to their country of origin.

“Some media have criticized us, arguing that we are building reception centers to house foreigners, but I want to clarify that this is a processing center for extradited persons and no irregular person spends more than a day here, maximum a day and a half and we immediately send them back to their country,” said the director of migration.
