Santo Domingo.- The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) is monitoring a tropical wave with showers and thunderstorms located several hundred kilometers west/southwest of the Cape Verde Islands. This system has an 80% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone within 48 hours, increasing to 90% over the next seven days. Favorable conditions over the weekend could strengthen it into a depression or tropical storm. Another area near the Cape Verde Islands has a 20% chance of development.

Currently, neither system poses an immediate threat to the country, but monitoring is advised.

Additionally, a tropical wave in the western Caribbean Sea has a 20% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone within 48 hours, increasing to 30% in the following days, with no current threat to the country.

Weather Report: This morning, passing showers affected northeastern regions and the Caribbean coast due to humidity from the east wind and a trough northeast of Puerto Rico. This afternoon and evening, expect local showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in the southeast, Central Mountain Range, and border areas.

Temperature Advisory: Temperatures will remain hot due to the easterly wind, summer season, and Sahara dust. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, especially between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm, wear light-colored clothing, and stay hydrated.
