CNE welcomes humanitarian ship for experience exchange

Santo Domingo.- The MV Dawn, a state-of-the-art humanitarian vessel operated by Global Support and Development (GSD), recently visited the Dominican Republic to collaborate with the National Emergency Commission (CNE) ahead of the projected intense 2024 hurricane season.

Docked at Sansouci Port in Santo Domingo, the meeting aimed to share expertise and strategies in disaster preparedness. Kate Dischino, Director of Alliances at GSD, emphasized their organization’s commitment to supporting disaster preparation and response through technical assistance and long-term climate change strategies.

Juan Salas, Executive Director of Civil Defense, underscored their focus on community readiness for the upcoming hurricane season and highlighted the importance of partnerships with entities like GSD in enhancing these efforts. He praised GSD’s contributions to resilience, rapid response, disaster preparedness, and climate adaptation efforts, recognized by the Dominican Government.
