President Abinader inaugurates the Festival of Flowers in Jarabacoa

Jarabacoa. DR.- President Luis Abinader inaugurated the 13th edition of the Festival of Flowers in Jarabacoa this Thursday, an event that will run until Sunday and strengthens Jarabacoa’s position as a premier ecotourism destination.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the La Confluencia ecological park, with the attendance of Deputy Minister of Tourism Roberto Henríquez, representing Minister David Collado, along with local and La Vega provincial authorities and regional business leaders.

Under the theme “Spring That Spreads Joy,” the event organizers expressed their gratitude for the support from the Ministry of Tourism and the businesses that make it possible each year for both visitors and residents to enjoy the festival, which has been successfully held for 13 years.

Deputy Minister Henríquez highlighted the spectacular nature of the Festival of Flowers and encouraged both Dominicans and tourists to visit Jarabacoa to enjoy the event. “Events like this Festival of Flowers, which has been held for 13 years, enhance Jarabacoa’s rich tourism offerings, a destination blessed by nature,” Henríquez stated.

The festival features a wide range of activities and exhibits, including the sale of various flowers, ornamental plants, agricultural products, and handicrafts from the province, showcasing the great diversity of Jarabacoa, also known as the “City of Eternal Spring.”

The event’s schedule includes adventure circuits, zip-lining, volleyball and soccer tournaments, art exhibitions, a panel on “Jarabacoa as a Destination City Brand,” a fine horse competition, and a parade of flower-adorned floats, among other activities.

Throughout the four-day festival, artistic performances will take place, featuring notable figures such as Nini Cáfaro, Grupo Maniel, the La Vega Youth Symphony Orchestra, Chiquito Team Band, Pedro Fortuna, Jarabacoa Canta, Allendy, Stefany Constanza, and serenades of boleros, among others.

Additionally, awards will be given for the Dominican Cup of Floral Art, flower-decorated hats and umbrellas, flower-adorned equipment, and winners of the sports tournaments.

It is worth noting that, under decree #47-23, La Vega has been officially declared an “Ecotourism Province.”
