Showers and thundershowers expected this Sunday
Santo Domingo – The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) reported that several country localities expect cloudy skies on Sunday mornings. Some morning showers are forecast in the provinces of María Trinidad Sánchez, Hermanas Mirabal, and Puerto Plata.
The Onamet highlighted that the axis of the tropical wave has passed, but considerable humidity remains over the country to continue interacting with the trough and the orographic effects.
In the afternoon, cloud increases, scattered downpours, thundershowers, and wind gusts are expected over the provinces of San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, San Cristóbal, Greater Santo Domingo, and the National District, Sánchez Ramírez, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, San Juan, Elías Piña, and others.
Regarding maritime conditions, it was recommended to navigate close to the coastal perimeter on the Atlantic and Caribbean coasts without venturing out to sea due to reduced visibility caused by heavy rains, electrical discharges, wind gusts, and locally abnormal swells.
PROVINCES ON WEATHER ALERT
Due to the forecast rains, the entity maintains weather alerts for possible urban flooding, flooding of rivers, streams, creeks, and gullies, and some landslides in the provinces of Monte Plata, Maria Trinidad Sanchez, Sanchez Ramirez, San Cristobal, Hato Mayor, and San Pedro de Macoris.
TEMPERATURES
For Greater Santo Domingo, the minimum temperature will be between 24 °C and 26 °C and the maximum between 31 °C and 33 °C.
