Multi-vehicle accident causes major traffic jam on Coral Highway

A multi-vehicle accident occurred on the Coral Highway, in the La Romana to Higüey section, involving at least three vehicles on Monday morning.

It is currently unknown if there are any fatalities, and emergency teams are providing assistance at the scene.

“Our agents are monitoring traffic on the Coral Highway, in a West/East direction, due to a traffic accident. We urge drivers to be cautious and pay attention to the signs and instructions of the agents,” Diggeset published on X.

Preliminary reports indicate that the accident occurred near the dam bridge and involved at least one heavy vehicle.

Emergency crews are asking drivers to take alternate routes and allow emergency services to pass. The accident has caused a significant traffic jam in the area, affecting traffic in both directions.

Traffic on the Coral Highway has been diverted as rescue teams and authorities work to remove the vehicles involved and restore normal traffic flow.
