Increased racist violence against Haitians reported

Santo Domingo.- Organizations defending Haitians in the Dominican Republic have reported a rise in cases of racist violence against migrants from Haiti. The #HaitianosRD collective highlighted an “uptick” in violent incidents involving military personnel, police, immigration agents, and radicalized civilians, fueled by xenophobic and racist rhetoric from government spokesmen.

The group cited several incidents, including the deaths of three migrants between March and June at the hands of the military, and two murders in July of Haitian farmers by a landowner. They also noted the death of a 23-year-old woman who, after being “arbitrarily” detained by immigration agents on July 3, was allegedly denied medical attention and died the following day.

Reports from the Haitian NGO Support Group for Repatriated and Refugees (GARR) allege that immigration agents attempted to dispose of the woman’s body at the border with Haiti without following proper protocols or providing an explanation for her death.

The #HaitianosRD collective described the actions as a stark portrayal of “racist violence” by Dominican government agents, who they claim have carried out thousands of arbitrary arrests, often for extortion, regardless of individuals’ immigration status.

The group also condemned “illegal raids” conducted by military personnel, police, and members of the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) without court orders or the presence of prosecutors, often occurring late at night.

On July 9, the Haitian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship expressed regret over the deaths and called on Dominican authorities to investigate the incidents. In response, the Dominican Republic “categorically rejected” the Haitian government’s claims of inhuman treatment of its citizens on Dominican soil.

The problem is that you can’t merge two countries into one. The Dominican people are getting fed up with the illegal immigration in the Dominican republic. This was told to the world powers but they just don’t listen. If the Dominican people didn’t want to be with the Haitian government when they were in power in 1822 what makes you think they want to join with them now . The sad thing is that is going to get worse before it gets better. Hopefully we find a realistic solution.

Un reporte chantajista, financiado por conspiradores que no quieren invasores haitianos en sus territorios.

This is what happens when you have an uncontrolled influx of illegal migrants. Tensions rise and patience runs thin, and it’s probably going to get worse from here on. If we had a more secure border and less corrupt military and border patrol, this wouldn’t be happening in the first place. DR government needs to do more to mitigate this immigration problem.

You should automatically know you are wrong, when you start making excuses for the mistreatment of other human beings. There is NEVER a reason to be a racist.

This is website for Dominicans to give there opinions. Not for trolls or Haitian with fake accounts to give theirs. I suggested you go to Haitian today.

I’m sure you believed that made perfect sense. If you can not see the wisdom in my words, you are too far gone. These situations are seen in many places around the world. Those that take a similar position to yours are always wrong. I guess you believe racists around the world have the correct attitudes for improving togetherness.

This is the problem. Dominicans should be able to rule themselves. The only reason this happening is because of corruption of the Dominican government. And because of foreign pressure. The way things are going. Haitians will outnumber Dominicans in their own country. Remember what happen in Kosovo. If you think is racist to protect the Dominican nation then Dominican dan. You are no Dominican and no friend to the nation. I have not said anything racist. But I guess you have no real argument. I guess your solution is open borders.

This is how it works in a developing country like the Dominican Republic and nothing is going to change just because people don’t like it. The immigration situation is out of control after the previous administration allowed it to get this bad, and it will be a long time before we have a functioning system. Until then, this is the norm.

You can also use economic class, religion, gender and political affilation to kept the masses divide/distracted from the real problems. Like education and healthcare . keep them poor uneducated and unhealthy, then they are easily led, While the ruling class lines their pockets from the raping of the countries natural resources and exploits the tourism sector. Also have lots of cheap liquor available on nearly every corner. promote a culture of violence and low IQ music. its like synergy
