Indomet monitors potential cyclone development in Atlantic storm system

Santo Domingo.- This Monday morning the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported a zone of showers and thunderstorms over the Atlantic Ocean. Currently, the system remains disorganized but is expected to interact with an approaching tropical wave near the Lesser Antilles.

Indomet has stated that the probability of cyclonic formation within the next 48 hours is very low. However, environmental conditions are forecasted to become more conducive for development over the next seven days, increasing the probability of cyclonic formation to 50%.

The United States National Hurricane Center, in its latest report, also indicated that environmental conditions might support the development of a tropical depression later this week as the system nears the Lesser Antilles.

The National Hurricane Center advises meteorological authorities in the region—including the Lesser Antilles, Greater Antilles, and the Bahamas—to stay informed and prepared for any potential changes in weather conditions that could impact the area in the coming days.
