Venezuelans in Santiago hold vigil to support fellow countrymen

Santiago, DR.- The Association of Venezuelans in Santiago (AVES) held a vigil at the Information Square of the Santiago de los Caballeros Monument, where attendees gathered to offer prayers and share their feelings about the recent presidential elections in Venezuela, which took place on July 28.

The vigil provided an opportunity for participants to express and relieve their emotions, while also showing solidarity with those in Venezuela facing repression, abuse, theft, and kidnappings by the regime. The Venezuelan government’s refusal to transparently display election results has fueled widespread doubts about the accuracy of the National Electoral Council’s results.

“This event allowed us to share our concerns and support our compatriots in Venezuela. We hope for a swift end to this crisis with minimal harm to the citizens,” a spokesperson for the vigil remarked.

The vigil also served as a call for an end to repression and mistreatment. “No more repression, no more mistreatment, no more deaths, no more kidnappings. We are all from the same land. Let us unite our hearts and advocate for social justice in Venezuela,” the spokesperson added.
