Navy intercepts boat with cigarette contraband
Montecrisiti, DR.- In a recent maritime operation, the Dominican Republic Navy intercepted a suspicious vessel near Buen Hombre beach in Montecristi. The vessel’s crew jumped into the water and managed to escape upon noticing the authorities.
Navy personnel inspected the vessel, which was equipped with two outboard motors—one Yamaha brand of 75 HP and another Tohatsu brand of 50 HP. During the inspection, they discovered and seized 1,471 boxes of Capital brand cigarettes, totaling 294,200 units.
This seizure highlights the Navy’s ongoing efforts to combat smuggling and protect the coasts of the Dominican Republic, ensuring the nation’s security and well-being.
