Critical infrastructure to improve in Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Haiti

Santo Domingo.- The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with the National Emergency Commission and Civil Defense, has launched a new initiative aimed at strengthening national capacities and enhancing resilience to disasters in critical infrastructure within the education and water supply sectors in the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Haiti.

The project, titled “Strengthening the Capacities, Security, and Resilience of Critical Infrastructure in the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Haiti,” was presented to key government and civil society stakeholders. This initiative outlines a strategy to integrate disaster risk management into the organizational structures and decision-making processes of each country.

The project also aims to enhance capacities for knowledge management, methodological facilitation, institutionalization of tools, and improvement of coordination mechanisms, with a focus on reducing vulnerability. It emphasizes a comprehensive approach that includes cross-cutting, intersectoral, gender, and social inclusion perspectives.
