Heavy rains damage over 9,000 acres of farmland in Constanza
Constanza.- Around 9,100 acres of farmland in Tireo, Constanza have been affected by the recent heavy rains caused by a trough that struck the Dominican Republic last week, with 41% of the area suffering significant damage. This was confirmed by Minister of Agriculture Limber Cruz during a visit to the flooded region, where he assessed the impact on local crops and spoke directly with affected farmers.
Cruz assured producers that the government will provide support, as it has in previous weather emergencies. As an immediate response, he ordered the deployment of light and heavy machinery to repair damaged bridges and waterways in the area and beyond. He emphasized that once conditions improve, the government will implement both technical and material measures to aid in the full recovery of agriculture in the region.
