Report: Home building costs slightly lower in Dominican Republic
Santo Domingo.- The National Statistics Office (ONE) published the latest bulletin on the Direct Housing Construction Cost Index (ICDV), revealing a slight decrease in average construction costs in the National District and the province of Santo Domingo.
In July 2025, the ICDV stood at 235.70 points, reflecting a reduction of 0.03 points compared to the previous month. Despite this slight monthly decline, the index shows a cumulative variation of 3.52% since December 2024 and a year-on-year increase of 0.80% compared to July 2024.

Direct costs vary according to the type of construction:
Single-family, one-story: 240.99 points (-0.13%)
Single-family, two-story: 238.31 points (-0.09%)
Four-story multi-family: 231.97 points (+0.01%)
Eight-story or more multi-family: 231.54 points (+0.17%)

The ICDV is calculated using the Laspeyres Index methodology, using a basket of goods and services with fixed weightings since October 2009. Indirect costs such as land, permits, design, and business profits are excluded.
