Abinader and Collado unveil renovated Fishermen’s Village Plaza in Las Terrenas

Las Terrenas, Samaná.- President Luis Abinader and Tourism Minister David Collado inaugurated the renovated Plaza del Pueblo de los Pescadores in Las Terrenas, Samaná, after a RD$293 million reconstruction following a fire. Covering 4,930 square meters, the revamped plaza includes 10 food stalls, bathrooms, technical rooms, and a modern fire suppression system. The project also improved a 190-meter roadway, created a 960-square-meter public square, and added three beach access points.

Abinader emphasized the project’s significance for tourism and economic activity in Samaná, while Collado highlighted the restoration of this iconic destination. The Ministry of Tourism has invested over RD$1,102,306,686 million in Samaná since 2020, with ongoing projects bringing total investment to RD$1,759,620,995.30 million. Originally a landing site for fishermen, the Fishermen’s Village has evolved into a prime waterfront entertainment and dining hub, attracting both local and international visitors.
