La Romana.- From October 10 to 12, nearly 600 swimmers from 20 nations will compete in the ‘Oceanman’ Open Water Swimming Championship, held on the beaches of Bayahíbe, La Romana. Participants from countries like the United States, Spain, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, France, and the Dominican Republic will race in distances of 10, 5, and 2 kilometers.
The event will also feature a team category, children’s competitions, and qualifiers for the global Oceanman championship, the location of which will be announced later. Rafael Miranda, president of Oceanman Dominican Republic, emphasized the significance of the event, stating that it highlights the country’s importance on the global swimming stage.
The Oceanman championship is a major event held across five continents, drawing more than 40,000 swimmers annually to over 30 races worldwide.
