Citizens to enjoy the Book Fair in a safe and healthy environment
Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Culture (MINC) is set to implement a robust security plan for the XXVI Santo Domingo International Book Fair (FILSD 2024) at the Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for attendees. The fair, running from November 7 to 17, is dedicated to writer Mateo Morrison this year.
Approximately 450 personnel from various military, police, and emergency services will be on hand to maintain security. The operation will be overseen by the Ministry of Culture’s Security Directorate, supported by military branches of the Ministry of Defense, including the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Additionally, the National Police, including School Police, Preventive Police, and Tourist Police (Politur), will participate, along with traffic authorities such as Digesett, the Municipal Police, and Intrant.
First aid and emergency services will also be provided by the Directorate of Extra-hospital Emergency Services (DAEH), the Dominican Red Cross, Civil Defense, and the National District Fire Department. The comprehensive security plan is designed to handle the expected large turnout, ensuring the safety and well-being of all visitors.
