Medina gets proposal would change public sector workday

Santo Domingo.- Public Administration (MAP) minister RamonVentura on Tuesday said a proposal to change the public sector’s work schedule hasalready been sent to president Danilo Medina for approval.

He said via the proposal, the working hours for all governmentagencies and institutions would change to 9am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.

"The Ministry has been making efforts to reachconsensus on several projects and formulas to articulate a well-foundedproposal to help reorganize and plan time for public employees, alwaysanalyzing the impact of setting the flow during peak hours, because this also helpsthe work discipline and unify times to decongest traffic rationally," Venturasaid.

The proposal excludes Education, Public Health, LawEnforcement and National Security and Defense, whose officials must submit theirschedule to the MAP.
