Agents nab colonel, 2 lieutenants in east coast drug bust(Update)

Santo Domingo.- The National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) fired a colonel and two lieutenants who were caught protecting a ring of alleged narcotics traffickers of San Pedro and La Romana. It didn’t specify if charges would be filed.

In a press conference the DNCD said the officers were caught with their guns and wearing their uniforms near the San Rafael de Yuma coast, with members of the ring awaiting a shipment of cocaine.

Colonel Manuel Isaac Jose Polanco, first lieutenant Maximo Ramirez and second lieutenant Elvin Fulgencio Calderon were detained together with the ring’s alleged members identified as Carlos Eusebio Abreu, Juan Ramon Alberto Guerrero, Luis Manuel Polanco and Neiro Olivo Garcia.
