After ruling party is punished at U.S. polls, dozens fear losing cushy jobs

NEW YORK.- As many as 100 officials of the Dominican Delegation to the UN, the General Consulate in the city, the Embassy in Washington, the Delegation to the OAS and other consular in several states have either been fired and/or suspended as of Thursday by the Foreign Relations Ministry

The sweep is reportedly in response to the ruling PLD and its ally PRSC parties’ dismal showing in the US, during the polls for president and Overseas deputies.

Though not confirmed officially as of yesterday Dominican Web sites were abuzz with reports that PRSC senior leaders had been “frantically” calling Dominican Republic on concerns of losing their coveted positions.
