Prosecutor does not take sides on charges against former president

Santo Domingo.– National District prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso decided yesterday not to take sides on the money laundering and malfeasance charges filed by the former presidential candidate Guillermo Moreno against former president Leonel Fernandez.

During a hearing that lasted several hours in Reynoso’s office, the prosecutor heard arguments from each of the parties. It is still unknown when the prosecutor will announce whether she will open a formal investigation.

While Moreno reiterated his complaint against Leonel, the lawyers of the former president refuted the allegations. Dozens of lawyers arrived at the Ciudad Nueva courthouse Friday as a show of support for Fernandez.
