More generals will be culled until legal limit is reached, top brass says

Santo Domingo.- Armed Forces minister Sigfrido Pared today said more generals will be placed on retirement, until reaching the new Law’s mandate of one for every 1,000 members of the military.

The vice admiral revealed that 700 members of the military branches have been dismissed so far this year, many for serious faults and others for joining irregularly. "Retirements are occurring continuously within the Armed Forces, it’s a slow process but they’ve been and have been honorable."

He also affirmed that the armed forces’ members who were at the service of individuals are returning to their units.

Pared, speaking at the National Palace, added the cleanup is being made as a result of serious misconduct by soldiers and officers who entered the services for the most part irregularly.
