Former public works chief, Arab-American businessman sought to embezzle; Lawyers

Santo Domingo.- The lawyers grouped in the organization Cona oni Wednesday asked National District Appellate Court prosecutor Jose Sepulveda to investigate complaints against former public works minister Victor Diaz Rúa and Arab-American businessman Mustafa Abu Naba´a.

The lawyer’s guild accused Diaz Rua and Abu Naba’a of conspiracy to embezzle billions of taxpayer money.

It said despite asking in March National District prosecutor Yeni B. Reynoso to investigate the allegations linking Diaz Rual to the company Sargent Petroleum LTD, represented by Abu Naba’a, the official has yet to respond by probing the alleged violation of the purchase and contracting law.
