Power companies: We’re not looking to derail tenders for coal-fired plants

Santo Domingo.- The power companies grouped in ADIE on Sunday denied any connection with alleged campaign to derail the Government call for tenders for two coal-fired plants of 300 MW.

In a statement the ADIE said it respects the State’s sovereign right to on energy policy , through the plants or other actions in the electricity subsector which guarantees its development, “respecting existing regulatory and legal framework.”

ADIE asks the agencies and the people whove been assuming the task of ‘defaming’ the Association and its member, to be more responsible when lending their efforts to contribute to the solution, rather than being part of the problem through misinformation.”

It also asks the Government to identify the origin of the attacks aimed at discrediting the tender process and stressed its commitment with the country, "where we’ve contributed with its development for years and to which we aspire to contribute to achieve a sustainable, reliable, quality and low cost electric service to benefit consumers."
