Test mode for 911 emergencies starts in weeks

Santo Domingo.- Justiceminister Francisco Domínguez on Wednesday said the 911 emergency system will startoperating as a pilot program in the coming weeks, in Greater Santo Domingo’s urbanand most vulnerable areas.

He said the system aims to provide an efficient responseto the population, with tools that allow heightened vigilance and ensure safety.

“The most vulnerable points have been identified first, thosewith the highest rates of violence and street crime, starting from there, thenthe streets and alleys are great challenges which need the authorities’ quick responseto any citizen’s need," the official said.

Dominguez said the investment in human and technicalresources to assemble the entire structure means the system will provide results.
