Errors by law enforcment damage cases, chief justice warns

Santo Domingo.- Supreme Court chief justice Mariano German on Wednesday advised the Justice Ministry, the National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) and the National Police to establish "appropriate and prudent measures" to submit cases with the fewest errors possible.

He said his position seeks only to establish a proper administration of Justice and respect for the principle of presumed innocence, "which is a guarantee that judicial processes take place in adherence to ethics and transparency."

German, speaking with journalists to mark their day last Saturday, said poorly instrumented cases, violations of the chain of custody of evidence and neglect of the legality of proceedings, before reaching a judge, shouldn’t continue if there’s an interest in securing true justice.
